The JKE PAC raises money to support the school with materials and programs not fully covered by government funding. A partial list of past and present items includes:
Library books, classroom books, classroom equipment and games, science programs and materials, cultural events, earthquake/emergency preparedness kits, environmental events and programs, memorial scholarship, books for the school’s reading goal, computers, smart boards, general student support (helps to offset the cost of fieldtrips etc.), new sound system for the gym, musical instruments, intermediate playground
Many people are surprised to find out how many things are not covered (or are only partially covered) by government funding. This is why we need your support to continue to help our school have the resources it needs to provide quality education.
There are many easy ways to help us reach our fundraising goals. Hopefully you can find something below that works for you (and perhaps your friends and family members can find something too). Any support is greatly appreciated.
During the 2008/2009 year this campaign raised over $4400. Any cash donation of $25 or more is eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Watch for our charitable giving campaign notice to come home from the school, or make an online donation anytime. Online donations are made through the Langley School District Foundation (LSDC) and are passed on to the JKE PAC with no associated administrative costs. Since these donations are made through the LSDC it is very important that you specify the donation is for the “JKE PAC” or else it won’t get to us. LSDC uses PayPal for processing, but you don’t need a PayPal account to donate (you may use a credit card). Click on the “Donate” button below and you will be taken to the LSDC site with some of the information already filled in.
Support the PAC by ordering or renewing your magazine subscriptions through QSP any time of the year. This fundraiser brought in almost $2000 during the 2008/2009 school year. With over 600 titles and savings of up to 85% off newsstand prices you’re sure to find something that interests you. Let your friends and family know and they can help support the PAC too. Magazine subscriptions also make a great gift. We usually have a QSP campaign in the fall, but you can also order or renew online anytime. Our school group number is 2565. Sometimes the school and/or the PAC are looking for items you may already have, but aren’t using anymore.
- If you have any used plastic grocery bags that you would like to get rid of, please bring them to the school office. They are used for picking up garbage on the school grounds.
James Kennedy is registered with Staples for recycling ink/toner cartridges. There is a container under the front hall showcase of the school for dropping off cartridges. You can also recycle them at any Staples store (be sure to mention James Kennedy Elementary). This not only fits in with the school motto of respecting the environment, but JKE will also receive a $1 contribution for every cartridge recycled. Does your company go through a lot of toner? Collect the cartridges and bring them to the school for an easy way to show your support.
Entertainment Books are coupon books sold through the PAC at the beginning of the school year. The PAC gets a portion of the proceeds from each book sold and you get hundreds of dollars worth of coupons. Watch for our Entertainment Book campaign in early September. During the 2008/2009 school year this fundraiser brought in over $4,100.
Watch for our Purdy’s chocolate campaign in time for the holidays each year. Does your company give gifts to their customers? Buy Purdy’s chocolates through the PAC and help support the school.
Do you or your loved ones like to have a fresh poinsettia on display for the holidays? You can order beautiful poinsettias through the PAC in time for Christmas. Watch for our poinsettia campaign.
